OPEN LETTER TO BONG AND HIS COMRADES
I'm really at a loss as to why the idea of propagating any self-imposed denial of personal rights is a good thing and why any freedom-loving Filipino would embrace this trash as truth.
Let me point out a few things. Your anger and ability to voice that anger is a personal freedom. It’s a right of being part of a free and democratic society. I doubt anyone could be so vocal in a communist or any other non-democratic state.
Scream all you want, all you’ve done is whine yourself. Thank goodness there are others out there, strangers to you no less, who will fight for your freedoms even if you won’t. You’ve come to enjoy your freedoms without understanding how and at what sacrifices they were obtained. In essence, you’ve become complacent and allowed yourself to forget at what cost these freedoms were earned.
Can you name one instance where denying personal freedoms or allowing the state to dictate when and where you can enjoy these rights has moved the democratic needle in any country or civilized nation? The proudest moments in Philippine history are when we fought to have our rights…Spanish-American War, Philippine-American War, Japanese Occupation, Filipino-American Civil Rights, People Power Revolution to name a few. Those are the instances where I feel proudest to be a Filipino. It's not when we turned our backs on our rights and freedoms… Jose Laurel, Ferdinand Marcos, Joseph Estrada, GMA, Bong to name a few. You and your comrades may be prepared to lose your freedoms and your rights in a false idea that it may move this country forward, but there are many more who simply are not.
Here's a reality check. You and your comrades are the ones sabotaging this country by taking immorality lieing down. We have to hold our leadership accountable to a higher level of morality and integrity then we are today and that includes GMA. We can’t dismiss her actions because we feel "she’s doing her best." She and our other leaders need to do better and we have a responsibility to hold leadership accountable today. Thank goodness that there are others who will not accept flawed leaders as you do.
